While “reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic” were the three “R’s” we learned in school, the three “R’s” of modern day life are “reduce, reuse, recycle”. Many cities, including Scottsdale, make recycling easier by providing residents with curbside service and a separate bin or bins for recyclable material. However, not everything is appropriate for curbside pickup. If you have old electronics that you need to dispose of and live in DC Ranch, Grayhawk or other fine communities in Scottsdale, bring them to Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, February 9th, 2013.
From 7:30am to 2pm, the City of Scottsdale will be accepting the following items for free disposal:
- Answering Machines
- Cell Phones
- Circuit Boards
- Computer Mice
- DVD Players
- Hard Drives
- Recorders (VHS & DVR)
- Stereo Equipment
These are items that cannot be put in your regular recycle bins from home. Only Scottsdale residents are allowed to participate in Electronics Recycling Day. You will be required to show proof of residency with a photo ID and a utility bill from the City or a rental receipt. If you cannot provide proof that you are a Scottsdale resident, you will be turned away.
If you are a resident of DC Ranch, Grayhawk or other great community in Scottsdale and find that you have old electronics lying around the house that you need to get rid of, bring them to Electronics Recycling Day on February 9th. While these items have become part of our everyday lives, they also make up a large portion of our landfills. They contain harmful elements that can endanger our local ecological system. That’s why it’s important to recycle whenever possible so we can keep these items from ever reaching our landfills. The next free Electronics Recycling Day in Scottsdale will be held on May 4th, 2013.
